Endlich erwachsen! Dass Sonar Kollektiv in diesen Tagen 21 Jahre alt geworden ist, ist nicht der einzige Grund diesen Anlass zu feiern. Das Label, welches während der einzigartigen Berliner Aufbruchsstimmung Ende des letzten Jahrhunderts, von den 3 Jazzanova DJs ins Leben gerufen wurde, war schon immer irgendwie erwachsen. Blickt man ehrfurchtsvoll zurück auf die fast 400 (!) Veröffentlichungen des Labels fällt doch auf wie souverän und reif diese stets waren – von Anfang an und irgendwie ausnahmslos. Die große Geburtstagsfeier steigt am 18. Januar 2020 im altehrwürdigen Kesselhaus in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. Als Headliner fungiert niemand geringeres als Jazzanova höchstpersönlich. Zur siebenköpfigen Band gehören an diesem Abend auch die beiden Sänger Paul Randolph und David Lemaitre. Vor und nach dem Konzert legen sich die Jazzanova-DJs Alex Barck, Juergen von Knoblauch und Claas Brieler sowie ein Special Guest ins Zeugs, um der Partygemeinde so richtig einzuheizen. Es soll ja schließlich eine unvergessliche Geburtstagsfeier werden. Zumindest ähnlich legendär wie diejenige zum 15. Geburtstag in der Berliner Volksbühne oder wie die denkwürdigen Label-Nights 2004 und 2006 in der Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Ein Abend, an dem zelebriert werden soll, was Sonar Kollektiv in den letzten 21 Jahren geworden ist: Eine fast schon weltumspannende Plattform für verschiedenste kreative Einflüsse, ein Sammelbecken außergewöhnlicher Talente und ausdrucksstarken Persönlichkeiten und ein Plattenlabel, das es tatsächlich geschafft hat, allen Widrigkeiten zum Trotz, seit 21 Jahren zu überleben und doch noch so jung daher kommt als wäre es erst gestern gegründet worden. Wenn das nicht Beweggrund genug ist, auf Sonar Kollektiv anzustoßen! Auf die nächsten 21 Jahre Sonar Kollektiv.

Finally grown-up! Sonar Kollektiv getting 21 years old these days is not the only reason to celebrate this occasion. The label founded during Berlin’s sensational atmosphere of departure at the end of the last century by the Jazzanova DJs has always been quite mature. Looking back awe-struck at the almost 400 (!) releases strong catalogue it strikes you how sophisticated and seasoned it is – from the beginning on and somehow unexceptionally. The big birthday bash goes down on January, 18th 2020 in the time-honored Kesselhaus in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The headliner of the evening will be none other than Jazzanova in the flesh. For this special show the seven-member strong band is joined by the two singers Paul Randolph and David Lemaitre. Before and after the concert the Jazzanova DJs Alex Barck Juergen von Knoblauch and Claas Brieler, as well as a special guest will buckle down to get the party started and keep it going til the break of dawn. It’s gonna be a night to remember, for sure. At least as legendary as the 15th birthday party at the Berlin Volksbühne or the unforgettable label nights 2004 and 2006 at the Staatsoper, Unter den Linden. A night to celebrate what Sonar Kollektiv has become over all the years: An almost world-spanning platform for various creative influences, a melting pot of remarkable talents and all sort of personalities and a record label, that actually managed – against all odds – to survive for 21 years and still comes in as if it was founded yesterday.
