CCJO: Beethoven revisited - Unsterblich geliebter Held

The programme commissioned by the Hessian Broadcast on the occasion of the ARD Beethoven Experiment will now also be performed in Heiner Schmitz's home town – Cologne. In doing so, Schmitz, who was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize in 2019, explores the various facets of Beethoven's music and life, from the enigmatic "immortal lover" to the moonlight in his C sharp minor piano sonata and the celebration of the heroic, culminating in the 3rd Symphony. And with all this Heiner Schmitz tries to elicit the big band potential of Beethoven's music.
He once again finds an ideal partner for this experiment in the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, with whom he has already realized his "ODYSSEE" CD.

This concert is part of the series Komponistenlandschaft NRW and is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW.
